Politicians are going to spend $800 billion dollars which they claim will stimulate the economy. For the same amount of money we could eliminate the payroll tax for the rest of the year, giving the average worker thousands of dollars back in their pocket. Instead of more government spending, why not just let the American people spend their own money?

We could have saved …
We could have saved $1,000,000,000,000 dollars by not giving the rich tax cuts for the last 8 years.
You people are fools.

Dropping the income …
Dropping the income tax in 1 shot would cause major inflation and any growth would meet a NASTY slowdown (recession) when the tax kicked back in. It needs to be permanent and done slowly.
People may scoff at a permanent income tax repeal, but almost all of the money they spend comes from other taxes besides income tax.

Why were Friedman’s …
Why were Friedman’s ideas never taken up?
Its not like there’s no empirical evidence to support them.
China took them up and now they’re the biggest creditor nation in the world, while the US got all into Keynes and have dropped from No.1 creditor to no.1 debtor.
It’s ok to have a deficit if you’re a little sattelite like my country, but the US is a major power with ideals which the rest of us try to emulate. We know that the way they’re behaving is a deviation from them so we forgive you

“The government …
“The government does not give up power or money. Taxes are about control, not revenue.”
FAIR TAX, it would provide taxes while shifting the power and much of the revenue back to the people and specially the hurting small businesses that can’t compete with the punitive government taxes.

While you have a …
While you have a great idea for a temporary stimulus that is much better than the government spending our grandchildren’s money plan, I much prefer a permanent stimulus plan on tax rates so that the taxes aren’t scheduled to go back up next year or ever in the future. This is a stimulus plan that would allow businesses and investors to immediately plan on so that they could begin to climb the success ladder. Currently, we are relying too much on government to bail us all out.

Happy Tax Day. …
Happy Tax Day. There was no income tax in the United States of America until 1913. This great nation made it just fine for 150 years without an income tax. Call it what it is, a wealth distribution vehicle. Oh, but you did get a $13 a pay income tax cut this year from the Central Planners. So why complain.

Uhh, well, by …
Uhh, well, by imposing licensing fees and permits and outrageous hoops to jump through for start-up companies, as well as very few penalties on outsourcing jobs overseas, a few people DID destroy the free market system we came close to having in the US. Doesn’t matter much though, because every dollar that is printed by the Fed Reserve (owned by the Bank of England) has immediate interest payment attatched to it. We got tricked into using debt as currency. Failure is built in. Dare you to learn!

mistamustard,
Actually, what Bush did was hand people a minor rebate and his tax cuts have worked.
What people did with it was up to them.
The current problems in the economy is a result of BAD Public Policies related to the Community Re-Investment Act from 1977.
As the Internet boom crashed, money went into Housing. This market too has now crashed.
The Economy will always have ups and downs. NO ONE including the President can control the actions and choices of Millions of individuals.
